Visit to AXA Wealth Garden Terrace - Wed 14th May 12:00 midday

Last year saw the opening of the AXA Wealth Garden Terrace consisting of a variety of fruit and vegetables.

A staff initiative from the beginning, the garden is maintained and harvested by staff.

All of the produce is donated to St. Michael’s Hospice for them to utilise in their kitchen and promote healthy eating.

A picture of the garden terrace can be viewed here:

We have the opportunity to visit the AXA Wealth Garden Terrace to learn about how they:
  • Successfully grow food for St Michael's Hospice
  • Keep their volunteers actively involved
  • Achieve an environment which is aesthetically pleasant to the eye
Places are limited and Serena needs the names  (for badges and security) before Monday 12th May

There is no parking – those attending will need to make their own arrangements, the nearest public car park is the one used for the Anvil Theatre on top of the shopping centre.

Contact details through the main web site www.ienh.co.uk if you do not have them already.

Local Food Roots - Film - Thursday 1st May at 6.30pm

Join us for a screening of Local Food Roots, a short film celebrating the local food movement, followed by presentations from local food projects and a discussion about the local food network in Basingstoke and North Hampshire.

Local Food Roots chronicles the emergence of an innovative local food movement from a handful of pioneers battling against the odds in the early 90s to the diverse UK-wide movement of today. From the first organic box schemes to feeding cities and local food culture, this inspiring documentary explores the diversity, motivations, challenges and opportunities and what this might mean for our future.

Thursday 1st May at 6.30pm at The Tea Bar, 9-13 London Street, Basingstoke RG21 7NT

Easter Community Orchard Work Party: War Memorial Park between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday 8th March

We had a good work party at the Easter Community Orchard this Sunday past and made good progress, but there is still more to do!

There will be a work party at the Easter Community Orchard in the Basingstoke War Memorial Park between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday 8th March if you would like to join in.

The two main activities are to weed the compost areas around the trees and to refresh the edging between the compost and the grass.

Tools required are hand tools for weeding, hoes, rakes and edging tools.

Bags/buckets to remove the weeds will also be useful.

Hope to see you there!

PS We are moving forward with the designs for the lecterns and tree labels have successfully raised the funds we required. We expect to have these ready for installation in late March/early April. There will be work parties to arrange for this for which we will post the details nearer the time.
